Suzanne R. “Suzie” McNeil passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at home on September 2nd, 2026, at 10:35am at the age of 85. Survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Michael) Hudman, Maxine Giordano and son, James (Heather Elder) McNeil, grandchildren, John (Emily) Giordano, Rachel (Maggie) Economou, Alexander Hudman, Kim Leote, Hunter McNeil and Maggie McNeil, Chris Cook and many beloved friends. Survived by her sister, Joanne Gieschen.
Predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Roseann Stanley, and her sister Ann Stanley.
Suzie was born on September 11, 1940, in Mount Vernon, New York. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1959 and was a proud member of Keuka College’s Class of 1963. Suzie taught at St. Michael School in Penn Yan for 42 years. A devout Catholic, she loved Keuka Lake, enjoyed ending each night watching Murder, She Wrote, served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Michael Church, and served as an election poll worker. In retirement, Suzie moved to Pittsford, New York in 2021, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Michael. She cherished life’s simple joys: time with family, brunch with the “breakfast crew”, a glass (or two!) of wine while reading a book on American history and cheering for the New York Mets. Suzie was deeply grateful for what she had and spent her life helping those in need.
At Suzie’s request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held on September 12, 2026, at St. Michael Church at 10am in Penn Yan, New York. Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael School.
