Susan J. Barber, 78, of Rochester, NY, entered from the arms of her family who surrounded her, into the loving arms of Jesus on December 12, 2025, after a 6 week courageous battle with cancer. Sue was predeceased by her parents, Richard Collins and Margaret Skogseth, brothers Richard Collins, Donald Collins and Skip Collins, and sister Kathy. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Richard Barber, sons David (Cori) Barber, Thomas (Tracey) Barber, daughter Debi (Doug) Herrmann, grandchildren Emma Herrmann, Matthew (Sarah) Herrmann, Hannah Herrmann, Jordan Barber, Tyler Barber, Cassandra Barber, and Justin Barber, sister Mary Collins, brothers Fred Collins, Kevin Collins, nieces and nephews.

Sue is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam. She worked as a social worker for several years before starting her family. Sue had a love of flowers and, after her children were grown, she worked at Rockcastle Florist for several years. She also had a love for quilting and joined a quilting group (Cozy Quilts) where she helped create quilts for patients going through cancer treatment, and another quilting group (Quilts of Valor) that created quilts for military veterans who served in the wars.

Sue cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and attended as many sports and school activities as possible. She loved making her home beautiful with her talents of landscaping, quilts, and seasonal decorations.

Sue was a positive person and exhibited the fruits of the spirit of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. She loved Jesus, her family, her church, her neighbors and friends.

A memorial service will take place in the future at Journey Christian Church, 3955 Mt. Read Blvd in Greece.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Journey Christian Church (Cozy Quilt Ministry) or the Sussman Palliative Care Unit at URMC Strong Memorial Hospital.
