It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Sharon Lewis Little. Sharon passed away peacefully with her children by her side. Sharon was deeply loved and brought warmth, laughter, and light to all who knew her. She lived life with spirit and on her own terms, always giving generously of herself to the people she cared about. She loved to travel—venturing far from home in her younger years and enjoying closer trips as she grew older. An avid reader, gardener, camper and garage sale enthusiast, Sharon also had a tender heart for animals and deeply loved every pet she rescued. She was the person family and friends could always count on, offering love, support, and encouragement whenever it was needed. Sharon gave of herself in many ways, volunteering at her church, organizing events in her community, serving as a longtime member and past president of the Corning Lioness Club, and delivering Meals on Wheels with her lifelong friend, Dorothy West. She was an incredibly hard worker and instilled that ethic in her children. Sharon found great joy in bringing loved ones together, especially during family holidays, her annual cookie bake, and every special celebration. She never missed a family member’s ball game and special event and was always the proud, loving cheerleader on the sidelines.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Eleanor Lewis; her siblings, Richard Lewis, Beverly Bailey, and Anne Gill; her husband, Walter Little; and her daughter, Becki Schirmer. She leaves behind her adoring children, Brad Kapral, Leslie (David) Kapur, Sandra (Thomas) Wheeler and Tracy (Joe) Puntureri; and her beloved grandchildren, Paul Schirmer, Morgan Koczent, Megan Kapral, Alexander Varga, Andrew Varga, and Joseph Puntureri. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and the unconditional love she gave them will always be treasured.
Sharon also cherished the dear and lasting friendships she made throughout her life. Cindy Barnes was like a bonus daughter to her, and together they shared many meaningful memories in Sharon’s final years. To know Sharon was to know a loyal, adventurous, and deeply caring friend. She will be missed beyond words and remembered with great love.
