Robert G. Wyman

Robert “Bob” Wyman, 84, of Webster NY, passed away at home with his children surrounding him after an incredible 26-year battle with prostate cancer. Predeceased by his father Bruce and mother Ruth, his beloved wife of 50+ years Linda, and his sister Anne. Survived by his sister Carol, his children Jennifer (Larry) Wagner and Mark (Trudy) Wyman, and his much-loved grandson Joe, along with many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob had a long career at Kodak as a research scientist and microscopist and earned his degree in chemistry from RIT while working and raising his family. He had many interests and was always planning his next project. He built both an observatory for his telescope and a greenhouse for growing his prize-winning orchids. He also played the violin in the Irondequoit Community Orchestra and for the church praise team. Another favorite hobby was making wine — usually with apple juice ordered from Meyer’s Cider Mill for fall delivery. The product varied, but his last vintage, ready about the same time he started hospice care in 2025, with a delicate, light fruity nose, turned out to be the best he’d ever made. He gave most of it away to friends.

Bob always included his children in his projects and many fun science experiments, instilling a love of learning, science, and nature. The family also enjoyed many outdoor activities together, including camping up and down the east coast, canoeing the Finger Lakes and Adirondacks, fishing in the 1000 Islands, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and hiking.

Bob and Linda were married by — and lifelong members of — Faith Lutheran Church, where his Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10AM. Faith is located at 2576 Browncroft Blvd., Rochester, NY, 14625.

We are grateful for all the care Bob received from his team at Wilmot Cancer Center, UR Home Hospice, and the private hospice caregivers who got us through a very difficult time with grace. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The UR Wilmot Cancer Center urmc.rochester.edu/cancer-institute/giving or Issiah House Hospice theisaiahhouse.org in Bob’s name.
