Richard Gary Perez

Richard (Rick) Gary Perez passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 20, 2026, at age 76, after a short battle with cancer. Rick was blessed with a large family. He was a very loved brother, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and uncle. Known to his siblings as “Gary”, he loved music, sci-fi movies, exploring his heritage, and had a strong faith in God. He was predeceased by his spouse of 30 years, (Helen) Shannon Perez in 2024. Also predeceased by his parents Gertrude and John Berkman, brothers David and Robert, sisters Georgina, Edith, Nancy, and LauraJean, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by three sisters, Sue (Robert) Giruzzi, Trudy (Alfonse) Nitti, and Louise (Paul) Rosinski, his five children Richard (Trixy) Perez, Jr., Angelica Perez, Sarah Perez-Loadholtz, Rebekah Perez, and Deborah Perez, three stepchildren Wendy (Eric) Carney, Scott (Julie) Wood, and Laura (Jerry) Cuderman. He is also survived by his amazing 17 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Extended family members include several nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to specifically mention good friend Steve Smith who spent many moments with Rick sharing scripture, providing friendship, and care over the last two years. The family would also like to say thank you to all the amazing staff that provided care for our stepdad and supported our family over the last few weeks, and some outstanding home health aides who provided care, companionship, and shared lots of laughs with Rick for several years.

A celebration of life for Rick will be held at Calvary Community Church of the Nazarene in Henrietta, NY on July 25, 2026 from 3 PM to 5 PM, with a small get together afterwards for any family or friends that wish to attend.
