Rochester, NY – September 4, 2026, at age 88. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Drake, a man whose life was a testament to quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family. He lived with purpose, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to guide those he cherished.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Drake, who passed July 8, 2022. Their partnership was one of warmth, humor, and shared dreams, and the family they built together remains their greatest joy and enduring legacy.

He is survived by his two daughters, Allison (Martin) Zsolnai and Wendy Drake. Allison and Martin’s family includes their son, Adam, his wife Cassise, and their boys Alexander and Nathaniel; their daughter Rachel, and her husband Joel; and youngest daughter Lydia, and her husband Caleb. Wendy’s family includes her son, Jonathan, his wife Amanda, and their children Asher, Jesse, and Lily. He delighted in every moment spent with his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and offering gentle wisdom whenever it was needed. His presence was a steady comfort, and his absence will be felt deeply.

A dedicated serviceman, Richard built a lifelong career in telecommunications through his service in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant (E8), and later continued that work in civilian life, retiring from PAETEC Communications, in Rochester. Richard was an avid New York Giants fan since 1953.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly, 3429 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY.
