Randall Scott DeFisher, fondly known as Randy, “Rando,” and “Fish,” made his exit from this earth on October 21, 2026, at the young age of 63. Born on April 2, 1963, in Sodus, NY, to Edward and Virginia DeFisher, he was no stranger to health scares, having survived meningitis as a baby, an aortic dissection at the age of 59, and a three-month stay in the ICU at Strong Hospital to treat a traumatic brain injury and another round of meningitis. His family considered having him checked for feline blood in hopes there were five or six more lives hidden in there somewhere. He fought very hard to stick around but passed peacefully as the sun came up, with his children by his side.

Those who knew Randy know that he always had a hard time sitting still. He was a helper and a jokester who loved playing volleyball, seeing live music, hanging out with his friends, and tinkering with anything that had a motor. He also loved his granddaughters, Brigid and Fiona, the Boston Red Sox, and his two cats, Oscar and Dottie.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Greg); son, Scott (Meghan); mother, Virginia; sister, Pam; brothers, Danny (Lonna) and Brian; nephews, Brendan (Caitlin); Patrick; Dan Jr. (Renee); niece, Morgan (Joe); and his many cousins, extended (and truly extended!) family members, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edward, his sister, Tracy, and nephew Brian. Special thanks to his favorite people, Russ and Norene, for their unwavering support and friendship.

As Randy liked to say, "If I can eat, drink, and be merry, it will be a life well lived,” so his family will hold a celebration of life in the spring to honor him in just that way. Details will be shared at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to GRASP Animal Rescue and Friends of the Seattle Women’s Commission—two causes that were very meaningful to him.
