Listen to Obituary

Peggy J. Kerr (Powley), of Dansville, NY, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 74.

Peggy is survived by her son, David Kerr Jr. (Tamara Kerr); her daughter, Kimberly Kerr; her beloved grandson, Madoc Little; eight brothers and sisters; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Josephine Dutton (Bailey).

After more than 33 years as Office Manager at Rogers & Tenbrook, Peggy retired and devoted her time to the people and passions she loved. She had a special gift for working with children, beginning as a Cub Scout leader and later spending many years planning, directing, and performing in Vacation Bible School programs at several churches. Peggy also found joy in sharing her creativity through a crafting business with her best friend, Carolyn Nichols, and her daughter-in-law, Tamara. Together, they showcased their handmade creations at Winter in the Village, the Cohocton Fall Foliage Festival, and numerous other local craft fairs. An incredibly talented crocheter, Peggy lovingly created blankets for family, friends, and anyone who needed a little extra comfort. She also had a lifelong love of animals and proudly served as "Grandma" to many cherished cats over the years.

Peggy touched countless lives with her generous heart, unwavering encouragement, and genuine compassion. Whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful conversation, or quietly helping someone in need, she had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, valued, and hopeful. Her kindness was simply a way of life, and her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Highlands of Brighton for the compassionate care, kindness, and friendship they shared with Peggy.

To honor Peggy's memory, we invite you to perform a simple act of kindness—help a neighbor, send a thoughtful card, offer a hug, or encourage someone who is struggling. Peggy believed that even the smallest act of kindness could brighten someone's life and make the world a better place.

Memorial donations may be made to Hearthside Cats, Inc. of Geneseo in Peggy's memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Additional details will be shared as they become available.
