On April 20, 2025, Nickolas P. Doyle peacefully entered eternal rest at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York after a long illness. His life partner Mike Mersinger, aunt Judie Doyle Gebera, and cousin Christine Gebera Kessinger were in attendance.
Nick was born on July 15,1982 in Little Falls, Minnesota. In 1992, along with his Mom and grandparents, he relocated to St. Regis Falls, NY. where he served as an altar boy at St. Ann’s church and played trombone in the school band. Nick loved music and also played flute and drums. After graduating from St. Regis Falls Central School in 2000, he attended Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.
Nick was employed for 15 years as a Developmental Assistant at Sunmount DDSO and its Edgewood House in Saranac Lake and Wawbeek House in Tupper Lake. He also spent 6 years as a Direct Support Professional for Citizen Advocates’ as a DSP for Brushton house IRA.
While living in Saranac Lake, Nick met Mike and together they spent some happy years there. But in 2019, after Nick’s mother’s sudden death, he and Mike returned to St. Regis Falls and combined their cats with those of Nick’s Mom’s. In their family of nine cats, 29 year-old Felix was Nick’s beloved baby.
Nick’s favorite musical artists included Bare Naked Ladies, Melissa Etheridge and Alanis Morrisette, but he also liked oldies and classical. He loved movies such as Little Shop of Horrors, Ted, and Inception, and TV, especially Bob’s Burgers and the Cooking Channel.
Nick is survived by his partner Mike, his aunt Judie of Tonawanda, his step-daughter Savannah L. Mersinger and his “2nd mother” Barbara A. Gravell of Malone, by 12 first cousins and many descendants of all 13 cousins. He was predeceased by his mother (Marilee A. Doyle), grandparents (Patrick P. and A. Julia Laverdure Doyle), uncles Daniel P. and Glenn A. Doyle, aunt Dolores Doyle Southard, and cousin Deborah Southard Prevost.
Nick was cremated at Rochester Cremation and his ashes will be interred along with his mother’s in a tombstone near his grandparent’s graves at St. Ann’s Cemetery in St. Regis Falls.
Donations may be made in Nick’s memory to the Falls Cat Palace and Rescue in St. Regis Falls.
No interment or memorial date has yet been established.
