Myrtle M. Santiago, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York, while under hospice care.

Born on March 26, 1937, in Panama City, Panama, Myrtle lived a life defined by resilience, dedication, and love for her family. After moving to Rochester and becoming a proud United States citizen, she began a long career at Kodak, where she worked for several years. Later in life, she relocated to Deltona, Florida, where she continued her caring nature by working in an assisted living home until her retirement. In 2013, she returned to Rochester to be closer to her loved ones.

Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Albert Hamilton and Iris McClearen; her first husband, Fernando Pringle; her second husband, Pedro Santiago; her brothers, Dr. Winston Hamilton and Lundeen Hamilton; her sister, Edna Blake; and her nephew, Ricardo Cummings.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her son, Vicentico (Kathy) Pringle; her six grandchildren, Vicentico Pringle II, Ryan Pringle, Quincy Pringle, Dante Pringle, Amanda Countryman, and Kenneth Stosser; and her nine great-grandchildren, Vicentico III, Ty and Truth Pringle, Sarai, Leo and Nicholas Pringle, Valentino Pringle, and Kenzley and Kooper Stosser, all of whom lovingly knew her as “Nana.”

She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Cummings, Violeta (Fabian) Carvalho, and Marva Hamilton; her nieces Jackie, Vienna, Alexis, and Ashley; and her nephew, Charlie Cummings, who was especially devoted and played a meaningful role in her life.

Myrtle will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Hospital Hospice/Palliative Care.
