Michael S. VanTyne, sr, September 16, 2025 at age 63, Rochester New York, predeceased by his father, Lyle, mother, Barbara Survived by wife Rose, son Michael, jr (Kim). Sisters Cherie (Tom) White-Leyland, Jodi Maddox. Sisters-in-law Carol Rotondi, Linda (Steve) Taylor, Jo Anne Kleehammer, many nieces and nephews. A lifelong animal lover, Michael served for 12 years as an Animal Control Officer in the City of Rochester, as well as a Peace Officer/ Investigator with the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm. His compassion for animals and commitment to their welfare left a lasting impact on the community.
Michael dedicated 17 years of his career to Heberle Disposal, where he began as a driver and later served as a dispatcher. He also spent a brief time working at the McAlpine factory. Most recently, Michael was employed in the produce department at BJ’s, embracing a new role that was a departure from his previous work but one he took on with his characteristic dedication and work ethic.
Mike enjoyed kidding with others, cracking jokes, and making up songs. One of his favorite things was to make up nicknames for people.
Service will be held at the All Souls Chapel at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Friday, September 26 at 10:00 am
