Kathy Meeusen, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025 at the age of 77.
Born Kathleen Marie Moore, on November 1, 1947, in Washington DC, the daughter of Frank Benford Moore and Mary Agnes Hannan Moore, Kathy and her family moved to Fairview Park, OH in 1950 and later to Lakewood, OH in 1960. Kathy attended St. Augustine’s Academy and then went on to earn her BSN from The Ohio State University and later her MSN from The University of Rochester.
Her first marriage to Dr. Lonnie Meeusen, brought her to western NYS in her early twenties. She and Lonnie were the proud parents of four children; Kevin, Kris Anne, Karl and Laura. Together they raised their children to be strong, caring, and faithful.
She later married Bob Dicker, her life companion and travel and biking buddy. Bob and Kathy travelled the world, whether on their bike or in their rig, Bob always there, caring for and wheeling Kathy through the later stage of her life.
Kathy’s grandchildren Bradley, Kyle, Alex, Molly, Mason, Samuel and Isabel brought absolute joy to her life. She was also blessed to have her great-grandson Luka.
A dedicated Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Kathy had a special gift for caring for children. God gave her the strength and knowledge to care for others, and she combined her medical skills with a warm, personal touch that families treasured. She had a way of making every child feel safe and seen, and her unwavering faith shone through in her gentle and patient approach to healing. For Kathy, being a nurse practitioner was more than a job; it was a calling, and she lived that calling every day by giving her very best to every family she served. She also volunteered as a Nurse Practitioner at St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center in Rochester.
An avid biker and part of the Hugger’s biking group, she clocked thousands of miles on Blue (her bike). The highlight of her time spent on her bike was the day she rode her Century Ride (100 miles in one day). She also enjoyed reading, traveling, ice skating and was a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Kathy embraced the quote “ Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming . . . WOW!!!! What a ride!!!!”
Kathy was a strong and resilient woman, guided by a deep and abiding faith in God. She carried her faith with her throughout her life, leaning on it for strength and guidance. She introduced her children to this faith at a young age, reminding them of Christ's presence in every aspect of their lives and raising them with love and sacrifice.
She faced life’s challenges with a humble spirit and a remarkable sense of humor. Even in the toughest of times, her positive spirit shone through, and she had a gift for making a joke—a trait that stayed with her to the very end. She loved to laugh and find joy, never staying down for long, no matter what knocked her off her feet. She was always willing to go out of her way to help others, embodying the caring and generous spirit that defined her life.
She is survived by her children; Kevin Meeusen (Las Vegas, NV) Kris Anne (Sean) Furbee (Massillon, OH), Karl (Pauline) Meeusen (Wallingford, PA) and Laura (Ryan) Lane (Dansville, NY); her grandchildren Bradley (Kelly) Mowls, Kyle and Alex Furbee, Molly and Mason Lane, and Samuel and Isabel Meeusen; her great-grandson Luka Mowls. She is also survived by her siblings James (Mindy) Moore, F. Matthew (Michele) Moore, John (Debbie) Moore and Mary Ann Moore, as well as many loved and adored nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Moore, her husbands, Bob Dicker and Dr. Lonnie Meeusen and sister-in-law Colleen Moore and nephew Danny Gburek.
Her life will be remembered and celebrated on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00am at St. Anne’s Church, 1600 Mt.Hope Ave, Rochester, NY. Friends may join at the 10:00 AM mass and small reception following the service (11:00am – 12:30pm). A private graveside service will be held for the family at her final resting place at White Haven Cemetery.
