Kathleen “Kathy” M. Coyne (Byrne)
ROCHESTER, NY- May 14, 2025 at age 77. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Harold “Trapper” and Veronica “Ronnie” Byrne, brother Michael and sister-in-law Mary Lou Byrne. She is survived by her best friend and husband of over 40 years Gerald Coyne, son Patrick, his wife Jamie, who is like a daughter to her. She is also survived by her three amazing grandchildren; McKeegan Patrick, McAyden Jamieson and McKenzie Grace. Kathy had many “adopted” children including, but not in any way limited to, Bryan, Jeff, Craig, Dave, the 2008-09 Arcadia Wrestling Team, Braxton & Nadia, the 2000 Arcadia Varsity Football team, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Kathy has many things she was so proud of including her time at Kodak, the amazing times as arguably the most famous lunch monitor in the history of Kirk Road Elementary, her great friends and customers while at Faris Pharmacy. Kathy enjoyed spending summers in Warren, RI and heading to Newport Beach #2 with her family while grabbing coffee cabinets from Delekta’s Pharmacy. All of that however, pales in comparison to the title of Grandma. All the trips and fun she had before the McSquad came into the world was nothing compared to her running those kids all over the place. Not a day went by she didn't have snack bags ready EVERY day after school for those three. All the casino wins, Bills games, Notre Dame games, Flogging Molly concerts in the world, and so many Thursday nights at the Long Pond Pub will never be the same.
The family would like to thank the ICU and ED teams at Highland Hospital for their compassionate care and taking our Irish sense of humor in stride each day.
It was Kathy’s wish, and our pleasure, to host an Irish Wake in her honor. Please join the family to share memories and stories at Dave’s Long Pond Pub (510 Long Pond Rd, Greece) on Saturday, May 31st from 11am-1pm. In lieu of wearing traditional funeral apparel, the family asks you to wear Buffalo Bills or Notre Dame Fighting Irish colors. Even though we are all grieving, we can still be comfortable and wear something that would make Kathy smile.
