Kathleen Sue Brimacomb (McCarty)

Kathleen Sue Brimacomb (McCarty), affectionately known as Kathy, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at the age of 78 in Rochester, NY, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. Kathy is predeceased by her husband, William John Brimacomb; her parents, Violet and Walter McCarty; her sister, Rosemary Grana; and her brothers, Edward Lindner and Fred Lewis. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Robin Barone (Michael) (née Brimacomb, aka Blew); her cherished granddaughter, Sage Violet Barone; and her loving siblings: Patricia Landschoot (Ronald), Walter (Gayle) McCarty, Timothy (Belinda)McCarty, Sharon Yarger (Dave), and Donna Joy Wegman. Kathy also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Later in life, Kathy discovered a passion for working with children while volunteering at her granddaughter’s school. From 2017 to 2023, she served as a recess monitor at Jeff Road Elementary School, where she brought joy and care to countless young lives. Kathy had a deep love for nature and the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed gardening, attending plays, and spending time with her pets. One of her favorite pastimes was walking and hiking with her beloved dog, Ellie, in the park near her home. She also loved traveling, especially to Mirror Lake Inn—her “home away from home.” Mornings were her favorite time of day, especially watching sunrises. She delighted in collecting anything violet and antiquing with friends and family.

In recent years, Kathy devoted herself to her daughter and granddaughter. She treasured long lunches, spa days, live music, and Sunday game playing with Sage Violet. Weekly overnights with Sage Violet were a highlight of her life. Her granddaughter was truly her world, and she often said her happiest days were spent caring for Robin and Sage. Family vacations created a lifetime of cherished memories. Kathy was always there for those she loved, whether for a phone call, a lunch date, or a quiet dinner. Her zest for life, appreciation for the little things, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 9th at King’s Bend Park – North Lodge, 170 Jefferson Road, Pittsford, NY 14534. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the celebration of life immediately following from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
