June 3, 2025 at the age of 90. Jimmie is predeceased by his parents, Velma and Pat Kangas: sisters, Bonnie (William) Cook and Katrina Michalko, grandson Zachary Rusin. He is survived by his children, Paul, Craig (Wendy), Daniel, and James (Missy) Rusin. Grandchildren Karen (Mark Pickett) Rusin, Paul Rusin Jr., Nicholas Rusin, Garrett (Valerie) Rusin, Brandi Rusin, Jonathan Rusin, Colton Palmer, Cheyan (Jordan) Palmer-Brongo, 5 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Ronald Michalko, several nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Jimmie grew up in Elmira, NY. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War as an airport serviceman on the USS Forrestal, where he earned the National Defense Service Ribbon. Jimmie was a tool and die maker for many years. He spent his spare time reading the book of God and enjoyed church life with his brothers and sisters in Christ. Jimmie enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and football on Sundays. Go Bills!
Friday, June 20th there will be a private graveside service, with military honors, at Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY.
