Helen Scott Erwin Corcoran

10/14/1946-1/28/2026

Helen Scott Erwin Corcoran passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born in Cleveland, Ohio and spent her childhood years in Ohio, West Virginia, and Massachusetts before moving with her family to the Finger Lakes in New York. In 1963, while living in Ovid, she met the love of her life, Joe Corcoran. They were married in December of 1965 and shared a devoted life together.

Helen is survived and deeply loved by her husband Glenn (Joe) Corcoran, her two children, Kelly (Bill) Mutschler and Joe Corcoran (Maureen); her six grandchildren, Maggie Mutschler, Aidan Mutschler, MacKenzie Corcoran, Jake Corcoran, Sydney Corcoran, and Lexy Corcoran; and her bonus grandchildren, Jeff Beaver, Phoebe Fornof, Olivia Mueller, and Ryder King. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jyl Corcoran, Janet Annechino, and Kathryn Hofman, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews, and Kate Corcoran who held a special place in Helen’s heart.

Helen began her working life at the Willard Psychiatric Center. She later spent many years assisting customers and building lasting friendships at the First National Bank of Ovid, which later became Community Bank. Helen retired from the United States Postal Service after serving in the Ovid and Willard offices, where she brought smiles and kindness to everyone she encountered.

Helen was a kind and compassionate woman with a huge heart and a quick wit. Her gentle sense of humor could catch you off guard, and her warm smile was instantly disarming. Soft-spoken and thoughtful, she shared not only in the joys and worries of her family but also cared deeply for the world around her. Her first instinct was always to take care of others, often putting their needs before her own. Helen’s love, warmth, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will celebrate Helen’s life with a private service at her daughter’s home. Condolences for Joe and the family may be sent ℅ Kelly Mutschler, 32 Pewter Rock, Webster, NY 14580.

Those friends and family wishing to honor Helen may make a donation to the Open Door Mission, P.O. Box 14236, Rochester, NY 14614-0236 https://opendoormission.com/product/0FF1B6A/tribute-page
