Listen to Obituary

Gladys passed away on Friday April 24, 2026 while resident at the Fairport Skilled Nursing Facility in Fairport NY. Gladys had suffered recurrent bouts of pneumonia in the past few months and finally succumbed to respiratory illness. Gladys is predeceased by her mother Mary and her father Robert along with numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her sisters Bonnie and Barb, brothers Robert and Douglas along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Gladys, born in Niagara Falls and raised in Fulton, NY, attended RIT after high school and went to work For Kodak upon graduation. After a long and successful career at Kodak, Gladys retired from her work as a research chemist and spent her retirement playing golf and managing her 40 acre hobby farm. Gladys held several patents in her field and was an avid athlete, having competed at an amateur level in golf, tennis, softball, and bowling. Gladys had a long history of charitable giving and generosity to friends or family in need. Her hand up came the first step in a renewed life to many who knew her.

Gladys attended the North Rose Methodist church for many years and was a steady volunteer in the church run “second hand” store. She was also a member of Wayne Hills Country Club for many years and Club Champion a number of years running. Gladys’ home life revolved around family for most of her life and many of her weekends and vacations included time spent with close family around her pool.

Gladys was admired and loved by many during her life and had become a beloved member of the Fairport Skilled Nursing community. She and her family are very grateful for the loving and devoted care provided for her by the many “front line” Aides, Nurses, Speech Therapists, Physical Therapists and PA’s who provided her care. A special thanks to Marti Balta who was her advocate, healthcare manager, companion and outlet for her sarcastic humor over the past three years.

A memorial service is planned for her at Fairport Nursing Facility and another at her interment site at Mt Adna cemetery in Fulton NY; dates have not been established for either service at the time of this writing.
