Garnet LeRoy, 73, died peacefully at her home in Greece, NY. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Jocelyn and brothers Michael and Charles. She is survived by her children Lee (Stephen Jr.), Shawn (Cassi), grandchildren Ryan (Mayrie), Sammy, Zach, Aleah-Marie, Stephen III, Sharron, and great granddaughters Rylie and Alayna. Garnet is also survived by her siblings Sharlene (Carmen), Marilyn, Janice (Robert), John, and Jim, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A doting and devoted grandmother, Garnet treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughters. She was also a loving and loyal sister who shared a close bond with her tight-knit siblings.
All who knew her would describe her creativity, kindness, generosity, and overall sweet nature; she was a “quiet soul.” Garnet had a witty and sometimes naughty sense of humor; she loved a good prank and could always keep a straight face. She maintained a positive spirit, even when faced with adversity and loss.
A gifted artist, Garnet attended Rochester Institute of Technology and SUNY Brockport, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking. Proficient in mixed media, she preferred the medium for its ability to combine textures, colors, and techniques. She drew much of her inspiration from nature, layering paint to create depth and varying sizes to highlight fine details. To illustrate the aspects of memory and time, she used watercolor to create reflections alongside sharper, more defined details.
A private memorial is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Verona Street Animal Society in Rochester, NY.
