Felton Culbreth

Felton Culbreth 77, of Rochester NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at home.

Felton was born on January 19, 1948 in Titusville, FL. He was the oldest of eight children born to Otis and Margaret Culbreth, Sr. He grew up in Sodus, Syracuse and Nedrow, NY. He attended high school at Onondaga Central High School and completed his G.E.D at the Job Corps in San Marcos, TX. He earned a certificate in Computer Studies at IBM Business School in Syracuse and became a certified Master Gardener through the Monroe County Cooperative Extension, after marrying and moving to Rochester. He was employed by the University of Rochester Dining Services as a cook until illness forced him to retire. He was married to the love of his life, Harriet Ann Culbreth, for 50 years. He was a member and enjoyed worship at Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church.

Together he and his wife helped in community garden spaces across the city, mentoring new gardeners about soil and plants. He managed the South Wedge Victory Garden for 9 years, sold produce as C&C Microgreens at the Rochester Public and Westside Farmers Markets, and did lawn and garden work for various clients. He had a strong work ethic, a generous, helpful spirit, quite a sense of humor and a love of sharing stories and life lessons. He believed in rising early and working hard, even while dealing with difficult cancer treatments. He loved his dogs, fishing, and the Pittsburgh Steelers football team.

Felton was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Margaret Culbreth, Sr. and his sister, Diane Culbreth Reid. He is survived by his wife, Harriet Ann Culbreth; Siblings, Otis Culbreth, Jr. Melanie Hamilton, Ava Fleurival, Marie Robinson, Camille Culbreth and Myron Culbreth; and a host of loving in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
