Obituary for Edmund Elliott Lynch Sr.
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Edmund Elliott Lynch Sr., who departed this life on January 30 at the age 89, surrounded by his family.
Born on February 29, 1936 in Springfield, Vermont, Edmund was the beloved son who became a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community member. He lived a life marked by integrity, competence, compassion, and quiet strength.
Edmund began his career as a Chinese linguist with the United States Airforce, evolved to being a museum curator and administrator and public servant. Colleagues and friends remember him for his stellar leadership, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to others.
His family was the heart of his world. He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Nancy; his children, Katherine “Kelly” Redder (Christopher), Tara Lynch Penny (Randy), Edmund Elliott Lynch Jr. (Julie); Meghan Lynch McGee (Douglas); his grandchildren, nieces, nephews; a host of relatives; and lifelong extended family friends who will cherish his memory.
Edmund had a unique way of making everyone around him feel valued. Whether through a kind word, a hearty laugh, or a helping hand, he left an indelible mark
on those who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue in the lives of all he touched.
A funeral mass be held at Fairport, New York’s Church of the Assumption on Monday, February 16 at 11:00 am. The memorial service to celebrate Edmund’s life will be held this summer at Lake Placid, New York’s St. Agnus Church. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
