Carolyn Elizabeth Gifford

Fairport, NY April 24, 2026 at age 84.

Carolyn is pre-deceased by her grandson Justin Dettman. She is survived by her husband of 66 years of marriage Dennis Gifford, sister Bernice (Michael) Stidd, daughter Denise (Donald) Dettman, sons John Gifford and Dennis (Janet) Gifford, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, including many more extended family members and Friends.

Carolyn had fought a long, hard and courageous battle for 56 years against M.S. without complaints along the way. She was a strong, generous women who enjoyed helping out others in anyway she was able. She enjoyed teaching, singing in the choir and being a sisterhood member at Temple Birth Kodesh, cooking, camping and participating in any outdoor activity. Her pre-deceased father John Ackerson taught her many things including how to hunt, fix cars, drive, make clothes from scratch, and sing. Her pre-deceased mother Bernice Ackerson taught her how to cook, how to care for a house, amongst many other things. Carolyn volunteered for many years for the Perinton Volunteer Ambulance Corps as an EMT. She was also a medical secretary at Rochester Regional Medical office building. She was a loving wife, mother, and loved her family and life itself as a whole. She had touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.

A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.
