In Loving Memory of Bonny Louise Hernandez (Burnett)
Bonny Louise Hernandez (Burnett) was born on October 26, 1959, at F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, New York, to Emogene Jones Burnett and Floyd Burnett. On July 27, 2026, Bonny passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her children.
Bonny was the proud mother of seven children, the loving grandmother of 23 grandchildren, the cherished great-grandmother of one great-grandchild, and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of another great-grandchild. While she was blessed with seven children of her own, Bonny’s heart knew no limits. She welcomed everyone with open arms and an open heart, making each person who crossed her path feel like family. To so many, she wasn’t just Bonny—she was Mom, Grandma, or Granny, always ready with unconditional love, guidance, and comfort.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She devoted her life to caring for others, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, comfort, and unconditional love. Whether someone needed guidance, encouragement, a warm meal, or simply a hug, Bonny was always there. Her kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering love left an imprint on every life she touched.
When she wasn’t caring for those she loved, Bonny found peace in life’s simple pleasures. She especially loved watching birds and observing nature from the comfort of her home. She had a special gift for identifying different birds, and she loved talking about them and teaching her grandchildren how to recognize them too. She found joy in noticing the beauty of the world around her and had a heart that appreciated the simple gifts each day could bring.
Bonny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gregorio “Oye” Hernandez; her loving parents, Emogene Jones Burnett and Floyd Burnett; and her beloved brothers, Mark Burnett, Anthony Burnett, and Brian Burnett.
She is survived by her loving children: Sherrie (Joey), Gregorio (Puly), whom she lovingly raised as her own, Diana, Gregory (Ilenis), Tristan (Meghan), Emma-Jean (Ryan), Antonio (Krystal), and Jesse (Victoria); her beloved sister, Brenda Burnett-Baker of Leicester, NY; her brothers, Robert Burnett of Rochester, NY, Floyd Ridley of Rochester, NY, and Frank Gallo of Canada; her sister, Beth-Ann Wilsea-Young of Dansville, NY; her 23 cherished grandchildren; one precious great-grandchild; one great-grandchild on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and countless others who were blessed to know her.
Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing Bonny is finally free from pain. Her love will continue to guide us, her memory will forever be a blessing, and her legacy of unconditional love, compassion, and selflessness will live on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
