Anne Marie Powless of Rochester, NY, entered into eternal rest on June 15, 2026, at the age of 79.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, Gerard and Elizabeth Miller, brother Gordon Miller, sister Avis Patterson, husband James Powless, nephew Mark Green, and beloved dogs Sam, Sammy, Pepper, Butchie and Harley. She is survived by her Sister June Green (Gary Howard), nephew Roger (Diane) Green, nieces Julie Dietz, Andrea Ellsworth, and Brenda McCarthy, great-nieces Lindsey Ellsworth, Renee McCarthy, and Ellison McCarthy, lifelong best friends Jane Passamonte and Joan Newlon.
Anne was a Beloved Aunt, Sister, Daughter, cherished friend and trusted confidant.
Anne was born on January 13, 1947, four minutes ahead of her identical twin sister Avis.
After college, Anne moved down south and taught Math for many years at the secondary level. While teaching down near Los Angeles, Anne and her fellow teachers found happiness in taking their students to Disneyland with their own funds. Anne then made her way back up to New York in her prized baby blue Volkswagen Beetle and met the love of her life, Jim. She also worked as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Rochester Police Department for several years.
Anne was a true artist, and she was quite talented—sewing, creating art sculptures, painting, photography, and mastering the crafts she took on. She was brilliant, funny in a sweetly goofy way, and she adored and deeply understood dogs.
Anne was the type to show up out of the blue, just to check in and catch up. She genuinely cared about her family and friends, and it showed.
She was always ready for a talk or a bit of silliness—whatever was needed.
She was always helping others and finding the fun along the way.
Anne was a devoted aunt who remained close and caring to her nieces throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
There are no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 17th at 1 pm at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford, N.Y. 14534, in the Gazebo.
A celebration of life will follow for those who wish to join.
In lieu of flowers kindly consider donations to a shelter of your choosing in Anne’s memory.
