Alan Richard Goforth, 72, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 21, 1953, Alan lived a life centered around family, friendship, kindness, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
Alan was the son of Thomas Goforth and Gloria Heilman and was lovingly raised by his father and stepmother, Mary Goforth, whom he affectionately referred to as Mom. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas, Gloria, and Mary; his sister, Marsha; and his beloved son, Philip.
Alan dedicated 40 years of hard work and service to Eastman Kodak Company, where he built lifelong friendships and earned the respect of many.
Above all else, Alan treasured time with his family. He especially loved family gatherings, holidays, and the traditions that brought everyone together. For many years, Al proudly hosted Christmas Eve celebrations for the entire Goforth clan, creating memories that will live on for generations. Sundays during football season were spent exactly where he wanted to be — surrounded by his children and grandchildren, cheering on the Buffalo Bills with a Genny Light in hand. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the Charlotte Social Club.
Alan is survived by his loving children, Chad Goforth (Emily), Jason Goforth, and Danielle Goforth (Ray); his cherished grandchildren, CJ, Haylee, Alyssa, Jacob, Justin, Trenton, Oliver, and Jaxon; and the mothers of his children, Nancy Mastrodonato and Patricia Able. His siblings, Larry Goforth (Sandy), Judith Callahan (Dave), and Michael Goforth; his beloved aunt, Ceola Benedict; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Alan will be remembered as the kindest and happiest man — someone who always found the good in others and welcomed everyone as part of his family. His warmth, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
